The Neo-Catechumenal Way / El Camino Neo-Catecumenal

Nowadays, especially in the United Status, where the process of secularization confronts us with a practical paganism, the Church must find a theological-catechetical synthesis after Second Vatican Council to evangelize the modern society. The announcement of the Gospel (Kerigma), Change of life (moral) and liturgy will re-form the man of today to announce a risen Christ.

The Neo-Catechumenal Way is proposed today as a path that the Lord has given to his Church to open in the parishes an itinerary of Christian initiation similar to the early Church, by stages, where modern man can be born to the new life of the risen Christ.

This itinerary of Christian formation is made in small communities as the Holy Family of Nazareth, so the seed we had received in our baptism will grow up to an adult level.

The Neo-Catechumenal Way is not a movement or an association. It is a time of intense formation in which the brothers and sisters of the communities will remain permanently within the parish forming Christian communities (sacrament: visual sign) to call modern man to faith. Faith is the love in the dimension of the Cross and the perfect unit: “Be one so the world will believe” (Jn. 17, 21)

The Neo-Catechumenal Way started in our parish 11 years ago when the first community was form with 25 people. Today we have six communities with 250 brothers and sisters, including missioners, seminarians and presbyters as part of this small communities. The communities meet individually one from another during weekdays to celebrate the liturgy of the word; Saturday evenings to celebrate the Eucharist and on Sunday per month as a day of convivence (to spend the day together).

En la situación contemporánea, sobre todo en los Estados Unidos, donde el proceso de secularización hace que nos encontremos ante un paganismo práctico, la Iglesia debe reencontrar después del Concilio Vaticano II, una síntesis teológico-catequética capaz de evangelizar al hombre de hoy, donde el anuncio del Evangelio (Kerigma), cambio de vida (moral) y liturgia forman al hombre que anuncia a Cristo Resucitado.

El Camino Neocatecumenal se propone hoy como un camino que Dios ha dado a su Iglesia después del Concilio para abrir en las parroquias un itinerario de iniciación cristiana similar al que tenia la Iglesia primitiva, por etapas, donde el hombre contemporáneo pueda nacer a la vida nueva que Cristo Resucitado ha traido con su venida.

Este itinerario de formación cristiana se hace en pequeñas comunidades a ejemplo de la Sagrada Familia de Nazaret, para que la semilla que hemos recibido en el Bautismo pueda llegar a su edad adulta.

El Camino Neocatecumenal no es un movimiento ni una asociación, en el sentido que hoy se da a estos términos, antes bien, es un tiempo de intensa formación al final del cual los hermanos y hermanas permanecen en las parroquias formando comunidades cristianas que llaman al hombre a la fe, es decir, al amor en la dimensión de la cruz y la perfecta unidad: “Sed uno para que el mundo crea.”(Juan 17, 21)

El Camino Neocatecumenal comenzó en nuestra parroquia hace once años cuando se formó la primera comunidad con apenas 25 personas. Hoy contamos con seis comunidades y 250 hermanos, entre los cuales hay misioneras, seminaristas y sacerdotes como parte de estas pequeñas comunidades. Las comunidades se reunen individualmente durante la semana para la celebración litúrgica de la palabra, los sábados en la noche para la celebración de la Eucaristía y un domingo al mes de convivencia.
