From the Pastor's Desk
August 29, 2010
Dear Friends:
Just to continue with the theme from last week, I am including the second paragraph from Canon 528 regarding the responsibilities of a pastor. Please pray that I can fulfill them.
"The pastor is to take care that the blessed Eucharist is the center of the parish assembly of the faithful. He is to strive to ensure that the faithful are nourished by the devout celebration of the sacraments, and in particular that they frequently approach the sacraments of the blessed Eucharist and penance. He is to strive to lead them to prayer, including prayer in their families, and to take a live and active part in the sacred liturgy. Under the authority of the diocesan Bishop, the pastor must direct this liturgy in his own parish, and he is bound to be on guard against abuses."
As I write this column, the teachers at Corpus Christi have finished their day of recollection to help them prepare for a new school year. Please pray for them and for the students who will be beginning their classes again this next week.
God bless,
Fr. Kevin

Middle-School Service Camp a Success!
We had 13 youth participate in our service camp last week. Everyday they learned how to live the Beatitudes: they served the community by dancing with Seniors at St. Martin Senior Center, played bingo with Seniors at Goodwin House, and worked in the Parish Food Pantry distributing food. Thanks to our young-adult and adult volunteers.
